Walter Boot awarded $4.6-million grant for new center to focus on older adults with cognitive impairment

Walter Boot, Ph.D., professor in the Department of Psychology and a Faculty Affiliate of the Institute for Successful Longevity, and a team of researchers from FSU, the University of Illinois and Weill Cornell Medicine have been awarded a $4.6-million grant to establish a center focused on developing technologies to improve the lives of older adults.

ISL researcher receives $2.9M from NIH to examine peripheral artery disease

 

Panagiotis Koutakis, assistant professor of Nutrition, Food and Exercise Sciences and a Faculty Affiliate of the Institute for Successful Longevity, has received a $2.9 million grant from the National Institutes of Health to develop a more effective treatment and diagnosis process for peripheral artery disease (PAD), a condition that afflicts 8.5 million people in the United States.

The National Institute on Aging has given an R01 grant to ISL Faculty Affiliates Walter Boot, Ph.D., the principal investigator, and Shayok Chakraborty, Ph.D., the co-PI, along with an interdisciplinary team of FSU researchers, for their project:  The Adherence Promotion with Person-centered Technology (APPT) Project: Promoting Adherence to Enhance the Early Detection and Treatment of Cognitive Decline

Three researchers win ISL Planning Grants for 2019

After a competitive application process and review, three Florida State University researchers have been awarded ISL Planning Grants from the Institute for Successful Longevity.

 

Bradley Gordon honored by American Society for Nutrition

Bradley Gordon, assistant professor in the Department of Nutrition, Food and Exercise Science and a Faculty Affiliate of the Institute for Successful Longevity, has received a prestigious early career award from the American Society for Nutrition.

Gordon has received the 2019 Vernon R. Young International Award for Amino Acid Research.

The award is given to an early career researcher — within 10 years of postgraduate training — for outstanding research related to amino acids. Gordon will receive his award at the ASN meeting in Baltimore in June.

Fahs-Beck Fund supports Amy Ai’s project on resilience of hurricane victims

Amy L Ai, a Faculty Affiliate with the Institute for Successful Longevity and professor in the College of Social Work, has been named a Fellow of the Fahs-Beck Fund for Research and Experimentation.
