ISL Hosts Dr. Kenneth Langa for the Spring 2026 Lecture Series Event

February 1, 2026

This week, we had the pleasure of welcoming Dr. Kenneth Langa, Co-Director of Health and Retirement Study, to Florida State University for a truly engaging and impactful visit centered on cognitive health, aging, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Dr. Langa’s visit included a community-facing event at a local senior center, where he connected directly with older adults to discuss brain health and aging in an accessible and meaningful way—exactly the kind of translational engagement we strive for at ISL. He was joined by Dr. Dawn Carr and Dr. Lucinda Graven as expert panelists.

On campus, he joined us for a luncheon with graduate students, offering thoughtful advice on building impactful research careers in aging and population health, followed by a faculty meeting that sparked rich discussions on HRS, interdisciplinary collaboration, and future opportunities in cognitive aging research.

The visit culminated in a guest lecture, where Dr. Langa shared insights from his groundbreaking work on dementia epidemiology, health disparities, and the role of policy and health systems in shaping cognitive outcomes later in life.

We are grateful to Dr. Langa for his generosity, intellectual leadership, and commitment to bridging research, education, and community impact. Visits like this exemplify the mission of the Institute for Successful Longevity—advancing science while keeping people and communities at the center!
